About Dalip

After earning a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law at the age of 24, Dalip started his professional career as an attorney working for a boutique law firm in Center City, Philadelphia. With the ambition to work in entertainment growing by the day, Dalip relocated to Los Angeles and joined Rain in 2009 as an assistant to Jonathan Baruch. Immediately taken with the company’s dynamic culture and opportunity for growth, he started scouting new and upcoming talent – efforts that landed the company a presence at Sundance Film Festival that same year. Dalip also spearheaded Rain’s initiative to be the first management company to use social networking and technology for its clients as a competitive advantage.

With the proud distinction of being the company’s only home-grown executive, Dalip has maintained his focus to signing and partner with exceptional director, literary, and talented clients. In addition to actively discovering young artists, he represents top Executive Producers, Producer/Directors, and multi-hyphenates.

Dalip is also an alum of the Richard T. Farmer School of Business at Miami University. He lived a nomadic lifestyle as a child, and although able to call several cities his hometown – he chooses Chicago. He believes Back to The Future is the best movie of all time, and will passionately debate anyone who says otherwise.

I GOT INTO THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS BECAUSE…
I wanted to have a hand in shaping the creative content consumed by the next generation, and with that, discover and launch careers of artists that I find inspiring.

THE MOVIE/BOOK/TV SHOW THAT INSPIRED ME MOST WAS…
Comedy was my first love – I don’t think I would have pursued a career in entertainment had it not been for an overdose of 80’s and 90’s sitcoms, sketch shows like SNL and In Living Color, Mel Brooks movies, and memorizing my favorite stand up comic sets word for word.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING IS…
Miley got it right – it’s the climb.

MY HAPPY PLACE IS…
Watching the NBA live. The greatest athletes playing the greatest game – just never gets old.

ONE SONG FROM THE SOUNDTRACK OF MY LIFE WOULD BE…
I’d pick a song that was part of an actual soundtrack, and most likely from the greatest movie of all time, Back to The Future. There are lots of great choices off this film’s soundtrack, but because I’m a hopeless romantic, I’d go right for Earth Angel. In the film, George kisses Lorraine in the nick of time at the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance, thus preserving his son Marty’s future and maintaining the space time continuum. And in real life, I made the DJ play this song to close my wedding reception. So, pretty similar.
